Assi Ghat

It traditionally constitutes the southern end of conventional city. The ghat is located on the . A dip in the river over here is considered very holy especially in the month of Chaitya (March! April) and Magh (Jan/Feb.). Other important occasions are Solar / Lunar eclipse, , , etc.

Dasashvamedha Ghat

This ancient and busiest ghat affords a splendid view of the river front. Legends suggest that Lord Brahma, the creator performed the ten -horses sacrifice () at this site to pave way for Shiva’s return to Varanasi after a spell of banishment.
